James Patterson once again co-writes with Maxine Paetro.  You may remember that James and Maxine write the Women’s Murder Club novels together.  And if you have read that series you know that their collaboration is a very good thing!

In his newest novel and second installment of the Private series, ex-marine Jack Morgan, owner of Private, an investigation agency for upscale citizens, returns home from a trip overseas to find his ex-girlfriend, Colleen Molloy, murdered in his bed.  Jack has his own team of experts scour the area and then later calls the police.  The two LAPD lieutenants on the case don’t like Jack at all because his business cuts in on their work and refuse to believe a thing he says.  But then all evidence does point directly to Jack.  Jack has other troubles including clients dropping him like a hot potato now that he has been arrested for murder and one of his employees, also an ex-girlfriend, who finds out that things weren’t quite over with Colleen when they were on with her.  So Jack sets out to find out who is framing him plus investigates why dead bodies keep turning up in the rooms of friend’s hotel.

This book, like all of James Patterson books, is fast moving, well written, a good story, and never a dull moment!
