Whenever a book is adapted for a movie or television, people always want to see how they compare. The library can tell when this happens by an increase of requests on certain titles. The Help by Kathryn Stockett for example, jumped from under 10 requests to almost 100 in the weeks before the movie was released. If you are one of the people who like to read the book before going to the theater, here is a little heads up on some upcoming book to movie/TV releases.

Upcoming Releases

City of Bones – Cassandra Clare
The script is being rewritten to follow the book more closely by TV writer Marlene King, who is also currently writing for Pretty Little Liars. Lilly Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower are rumored to be cast in the lead roles.

Forest of Hands and Teeth – Carrie Ryan
Filming is set to begin early 2012.

Hunger Games – Suzanne Collins
In theaters March 23rd, 2012. Starring Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth.

Shiver – Maggie Stiefvater
In casting

Carrie Diaries – Candace Bushnell
The prequel to HBO’s hit Sex and the City has been picked up by Warner Bros. and the CW network. Warner Bros is a “corporate sibling” to HBO so expect lots of similarities between the two shows.
