I would like to introduce you to an area of our library you may not be familiar with: our Business and Career Resource Center. It has two locations – one in the rear of the library as shown in the photo.

The other portion of our career center exists online:

Our Resource Center was funded with a 2010 grant from the C.K. Blandin Foundation. We chose to dedicate part of that money to the creation of a multi-faceted center to assist young people in career and education choices and to help adults who may be considering a career change or small business ownership.
First, we have a table and display board filled with tips and ideas for job hunters as well as information for researching possible occupations. There are many publications on the table which are free. We have the Career Connection from the Minnesota WorkForce Center, a Job Seekers Guide from MinnesotaWorks.net and Minnesota Economic Trends from Positively Minnesota.
The bookcase contains resources geared toward varied topics:
• College and Career Planning
• Small Business Ownership
• Home-based Businesses
• Job Search Skills
• Internet Marketing

Finally, a Resource Center online allows everyone to have access to great information without having to leave home. The website has five pages filled with links to online resources. These pages are Career, Employment, Digital Literacy, Small Business, and Stevens County. We have bookmarks at our checkout desk which give details and the web address for this site. Please take one for yourself and one to give away to a friend.

I invite you to make use of any or all of these resources in your research and decisions. Best wishes!  Tammy
